BlueWave Technology Congratulates NBIC's Mike Anselmo for Being Named One of 2011's Elite 8

Insurance & Technology Recognized Award Winners at Executive Summit Held in Arizona

HONOLULU, HI--(Marketwire - Nov 7, 2011) - BlueWave Technology is pleased to congratulate Mike Anselmo, chief information officer of Narragansett Bay Insurance Company (NBIC), recently named one of the 2011 Elite 8 Award honorees by Insurance & Technology. The award was presented at the 13th Annual Insurance & Technology Executive Summit in Phoenix, Arizona.

Insurance & Technology's Elite 8 is an annual award recognizing senior insurance carrier IT executives who have used technology strategically to successfully support overall company business objectives. Recipients are a cross section of distinguished individuals from the property/casualty, life and health, and reinsurance segments of the insurance industry.

"This year's Elite 8 honorees understand that technology has never been more important to the performance and success of insurance companies, while also recognizing the ways in which the insurance IT organization is being re-defined by forces such as globalization, new approaches to infrastructure, and technology consumerization," said I&T Editorial Director Kathy Burger. "Mike Anselmo is an executive who embraces these kinds of challenges, and is highly-deserving of this honor."

Anselmo is no stranger to massive strategic project implementations and industry recognition. Prior to joining NBIC, he designed a cutting-edge technology enterprise architecture for a specialty insurance company and led a large team of technology and business employees who successfully completed the implementation. Anselmo has also won acclaim as one of the 2010 Tech Decisions All-Stars, and he has been recognized on Insurance Networking News' list of CIOs taking charge in high‐profile assignments.

Anselmo's most recent endeavor for NBIC, Project APEX, began in 2009. Project APEX was envisioned to modernize NBIC's in-house legacy systems and establish a highly-advanced, flexible and nimble technology environment that would enable the company to deliver exceptional client services, platform scalability, business alignment and the product agility needed to transform the homeowners' insurance marketplace. All systems selected as a part of Project APEX were specifically chosen for their flexible, modern architecture. BlueWave Technology's PipelineClaims was brought in when the Project APEX team at NBIC identified, and then selected, a system to consolidate IT processes and create more fluid claims management. NBIC wanted the new solution to be responsive enough to handle the company's current claims volume while also capturing all the data vital to underwriting better business. Anselmo's APEX project not only won the Celent Model Carrier award in 2010, but also the Vanguards in Insurance Practices Award in 2011.

"It's been a pleasure seeing Mike in action throughout the APEX project," said Alyssa Hostelley, president of BlueWave Technology. "He has been a visionary, and is very much deserving of this recognition."
