MIRAMAR, Fla., Dec. 13, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ultra low cost carrier Spirit Airlines (Nasdaq:SAVE) reportedly received an urgent call from the North Pole this morning. Santa has apparently received an overwhelming number of Christmas wish list requests from Texas children who want to go to Orlando for spring break. The call prompted Spirit to launch one of its popular $9 fare sales and to start its DFW – Orlando service ahead of schedule on February 9, 2012, rather than March 22, 2012.

"We're happy to help out Santa and Texas by giving the gift of ultra low fares," said Spirit's Chief Marketing Officer Barry Biffle during his call with Santa. "Our ultra low fares from DFW to Orlando starting February 9 make it more affordable for kids and adults alike to enjoy the theme parks and all that sunny Central Florida has to offer this spring."

Spirit's $9 fares* (each way based on round trip purchase) from DFW to Orlando and other destinations are available today and tomorrow only at www.spirit.com.
