Informatica Positioned in Leaders Quadrant in 2011 Master Data Management of Customer Data Solutions Report

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Dec. 19, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the world’s number one independent leader in data integration software, today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the leaders quadrant in the 2011 Magic Quadrant for Master Data Management (MDM) of Customer Data Solutions[1] report. The complete report, including the quadrant graphic was published December 12, 2011 and is available on the Informatica web site at http://www.informatica.com/mdm_mq.

Gartner estimates that total software revenue for MDM solutions was $1.4 billion in 2010, an increase of 15% from 2009. Within those overall figures it’s estimated that the market for MDM of customer data solutions was $446 million in 2010, an increase of 23% from 2009. Gartner projects five-year compound annual growth rates (CAGRs) of nearly 20% for both the overall MDM and the MDM of customer data software markets through 2015. This suggests that the need for MDM technology is growing as companies face new and ever increasing amounts of data that is now at their disposal - including social media and mobile data.

The Informatica MDM multidomain capabilities were called out in the report and are becoming increasingly important as more and more companies need to understand and derive value from complex relationships between customers, products, and locations. Informatica is also innovating in the area of leveraging social media. Now, customer identities can be reconciled across Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications and Facebook. By integrating a customer’s social identity with their corporate identity, MDM enables companies to capitalize on social media data.

"We are pleased that Informatica MDM has been recognized as a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for MDM of Customer Data", said Arvind Parthasarathi, general manager, MDM Business, Informatica. "Informatica MDM is the most integrated, client-driven, and flexible MDM product in the market. Enterprises greatly rely on Informatica MDM to deliver the most authoritative and trustworthy business-critical data and relationships among them. Providing Universal MDM for these best-in-class companies, Informatica MDM delivers substantial return on their master data assets."

Additional highlights of Informatica’s execution and strategic direction in MDM in the past year have also been recognized in additional Gartner reports:

  • Informatica appeared in the 2011 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Master Data Management of Product Data Solutions. Informatica was included based on its completeness of vision and ability to execute in product master data.
  • As a result of its acquisition of Siperian and strong growth in 2010, Gartner estimates that Informatica achieved the highest growth rate of any major MDM vendor. This is based on Gartner’s 2010 MDM revenue estimates relative to its 2009 MDM revenue estimates, as detailed in Gartner’s Forecast: Master Data Management, Worldwide, 2010-2015 (G00216982).
  • The Informatica MDM Release 9.1, announced in June 2011, further strengthened the Informatica Data Controls, the MDM Applet[2] functionality pioneered by Informatica, with the addition of Duplicate Prevention Control, which prevents creation of duplicate data within CRM and ERP applications. Gartner’s Hype Cycle for Master Data Management 2011 report listed Informatica as a sample vendor.
  • Informatica MDM was prominently featured in the 20-city worldwide "Customer Data Forum" roadshow. The well-attended sessions demonstrated how companies can use Informatica MDM, Informatica Data Quality, and Informatica data integration technologies to successfully manage customer data to attract and retain customers.
