WILMINGTON, Del., Dec. 21, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- WSFS Financial Corporation (Nasdaq:WSFS), the parent company of WSFS Bank, today announced that it has made several donations to support local non-profits during this holiday season, including toys for children at area hospitals, The Food Bank of Delaware, The Ministry of Caring Inc. – Emmanuel Dining Room, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program and Sunday Breakfast Mission Great Thanksgiving Food Drive.

For the third year in a row, the WSFS Holiday Stocking Promotion took place at all WSFS branch locations. A Customer at each WSFS branch entered to win a six foot stocking stuffed with toys. In addition, 40 stockings were donated to the pediatric divisions of local hospitals. In Pennsylvania, stockings were given to The Chester County Hospital and Crozer-Chester Medical Center. In Sussex County, stockings were given to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Beebe Medical Center and Bayhealth Medical Center at Milford Memorial Hospital. In Kent County, stockings were given to Bayhealth Medical Center at Kent General Hospital and in New Castle County, stockings were given to Christiana Care Health System and Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

In lieu of holiday gifts, WSFS Bank made a donation on behalf of its Commercial Banking clients to The Food Bank of Delaware in both Newark and Milford, Delaware. A contribution was also made on behalf of the WSFS Board of Directors to The Ministry of Caring Inc. – Emmanuel Dining Room and WSFS Associates collected toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.

In addition, WSFS Bank continued its support of the Sunday Breakfast Mission Great Thanksgiving Food Drive for the eighth year in a row. So far in 2011, over 2 tons of non-perishable food has been collected. Due to the overwhelming response from WSFS Associates and the community, the food drive has been extended until December 31, 2011. Drop off locations are at all WSFS branches in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
