SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Feb. 6, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LS9, Inc., a technology leader in the development of renewable and sustainable products, today announced the hiring of Gregory Rood as Vice President of Operations. Mr. Rood's responsibilities will include direct responsibility for LS9's Florida operations in Okeechobee, Florida and future LS9 production sites, as well as oversight on both external contract manufacturing and the operational interests in anticipated LS9 joint ventures.

"His extensive experience including managing microbial fermentation operations and the successful construction and ramp-up of a large scale enzyme production facility in China, will add valuable expertise to LS9 as we expand our operations in both the U.S. and overseas."
Prior to joining LS9, Mr. Rood was Senior Vice President of Operations at Martek Biosciences Corporation where he was responsible for the Kingstree, SC and Winchester, KY production and development sites. Prior to Martek, he worked for Danisco Genencor where he spent nine years as Vice President and General Manager for their Bio-products, Ltd. division, specifically overseeing all manufacturing and business operations in the Company's China and India plants. Rood joined Genencor when it was still part of Eastman Kodak and remained an employee of the organization for over 30 years, holding positions that included Operations Manager, Plant Manager and Director of Contract Manufacturing. Mr. Rood majored in Chemistry and attended Monroe Community College and Rochester Institute of Technology. He has also completed numerous relative courses including, Downstream Processing from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Notre Dame's Certificate Program in Advanced Business Administration. He was also a Visiting Professor at Southern Yangtze University in Wuxi, China.
