Industry Veteran Martin Darling Joins Violin Memory to Drive Growth in Asia Pacific and Japan

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 15, 2012) - Violin Memory, Inc., provider of one of the world's fastest and most scalable flash Memory Arrays, today announced Martin Darling as Vice President (VP) of Asia Pacific and Japan. With over a decade of proven success in high growth global markets and companies like QLogic, COPAN Systems, Hitachi Data Systems and EMC, Darling will lead the growth and go-to-market strategies for Violin's full range of products and solutions in Asia.

"Violin is among the fastest growing storage companies I've witnessed in the past decade and their worldwide expansion is impressive," said Darling. "The product's ability to speed up critical applications while significantly reducing power and space in the data center resonates well with customers across many verticals. Asia is a dynamic market and represents one of the highest growth opportunities for Violin. The company has already gained significant traction and I look forward to driving even greater awareness, presence and adoption in the region."

Darling comes to Violin with an established record of building sustainable, high performance sales operations in multiple geographies including Asia Pacific and Latin America. Most recently, he was VP of Asia Pacific and Japan for QLogic, where he developed the global OEM business, grew the indirect channel and built their Asia based OEM practice. Prior to QLogic, COPAN Systems hired Darling to re-launch their Asia Pacific and Japan business. There, he established start up sales operations in Japan, China, Korea, South Asia and Australia. Darling also held senior positions at Hitachi Data Systems and EMC.

"We are fortunate to have access to some of the most experienced sales executives in the world and welcome Martin Darling to our team to accelerate Violin's presence in Asia Pacific and Japan," said Don Basile, CEO of Violin Memory. "As Violin continues to grow worldwide, Martin's extensive experience in high growth sales and operations overseas will be an invaluable asset."
