LaVoie Group Participates in Massachusetts Life Sciences Center's Internship Challenge

Company utilizes grant program to enhance the talent pipeline for Massachusetts life sciences companies

Salem, MA, April 2, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LaVoie Group, the acknowledged leader in life science and pharmaceutical communications, announced that the firm will participate in the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center's (MLSC) 2012-2013 Internship Challenge, beginning May 1, 2012.

The MLSC's Internship Challenge is a workforce development program focused on enhancing the talent pipeline for Massachusetts companies engaged in life sciences. The program facilitates the placement of students and recent graduates, who are considering career opportunities in the life sciences, in paid internships across the state. As part of the program, LaVoie Group will welcome two full-time interns to the team. Katherine Morse of Beverly, a 2011 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a BA in Communications; and, Devon Cassidy of Swampscott, a junior at the University of New Hampshire will join the LaVoie Group team.

"We look forward to mentoring these students who are interested in life sciences, and specifically integrated communications," said Donna LaVoie, CEO of LaVoie Group. "The MLSC has created a valuable chance for employers and young professionals to connect with the industry, learn and become productive in the workforce. We thank MSLC and Governor Patrick for this tremendous opportunity."

"Massachusetts is internationally known for its talented life sciences workforce and the Center's Internship Challenge is an investment in the future of that workforce," said Dr. Susan Windham-Bannister, President & CEO of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. "To date this program has placed over 600 interns at more than 200 companies across the state, including companies like the LaVoie Group that provide professional services and expertise to the life sciences industry. More than 100 of these students have received full or part-time job offers from their host companies at the conclusion of their internships. The Internship Challenge provides students and recent graduates with the on-the-job experience that they need to compete, and companies with the talent that they need to grow."
