Georgia pet owners have a new source for free, reliable online pet care information. Georgia Veterinary Associates, Inc., with four companion animal hospitals serving the Georgia pet community, has launched a new website aimed at pet owners.

The website, http://www.mygavet.com, features a veterinary topics library with tips on wellness care, welcoming a new right pet into a family, at-home seasonal care tips, and a video news library. "We are excited to offer Georgia pet owners this important pet care resource," said the team at Georgia Veterinary Associates, Inc. "The new site naturally complements our mission to provide reliable, accurate information to pet owners."

The video news library includes short videos on common pet care health concerns, including preventing fleas, managing itchy skin, pain management in pets, nutrition tips for overweight pets, and how to care for senior pets. There are also videos demonstrating at-home care, including the proper technique for brushing a dog's teeth.

The "living with your pet" provides a valuable resource including tips for grooming, meal time and seasonal care. There is also a checklist for helping pet owners recognize the signs of illness in their pets.

"Our goal with the website is to provide a one-stop resource for pet owners," said the GVA team. "One of our most exciting features is the new 'Vetopedia' library, which includes detailed explanations for common veterinary terms. We want every pet owner to be comfortable and confident that their pet is receiving the proper care, and we never want confusing veterinary terms or procedures to leave pet owners with questions."

The website also includes information on the services available at the different companion animal hospitals. These services include pet grooming, wellness exams, vaccinations and nutritional counseling.

All four companion animal hospitals have received AAHA Accreditation. Each veterinary hospital must meet 900 different standards for pet care, pain management, veterinarian training credentials and continued education. Pet owners who visit the new website can learn more about AAHA accreditation.

Pet owners who visit the website may also sign up for the new bi-weekly e-newsletter and receive the latest pet care wellness news every two weeks. Information is personally selected by a veterinarian and tailored to each pet owner's needs.
