My Energy Gateway Website Launches, Provides Resources for Those Pursuing an Education in Energy Efficiency

PHOENIX, May 8, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In launching MyEnergyGateway.org today, the AESP Foundation said the site will provide extensive information on the available training programs, degrees and certifications that focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, green and alternative energy, as well as energy engineering, green building design and other disciplines.

Geared to students, returning military personnel, and displaced workers, MyEnergyGateway.org features certifications, two-year, undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as tuition, room/board costs, student/faculty ratio, and scholarship and internship opportunities. An extensive list of industry resources is also included.

Social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter are also integrated along with descriptions of sample career options with salary ranges. MyEnergyGateway.org, funded through a contract from the U.S. Department of Energy, is designed to help users make informed decisions about acquiring the required skills, degree(s) and expertise to plan an education in energy and eventually pursue a long-term career in the energy industry.

The AESP Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP). In 2011, AESP published the results of a survey of its members in which nearly 60 percent reported a lack of talented workers in the field and more than half were actively recruiting for open positions.

"Companies and utilities involved in creating energy efficiency programs are facing a lack of talented and adequately trained candidates for jobs," said Meg Matt, President & CEO of AESP. "MyEnergyGateway.org serves as an educational pathway for students, returning military and those seeking a career change to better understand the numerous opportunities that currently exist in energy. The website encourages users to enter the industry and quickly identify the best options to pursue."
