Terrorism Institute Provides InCOP Training to Kansas' Largest Law Enforcement Agency

OKLAHOMA CITY, May 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MIPT (Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism) and the Kansas State Highway Patrol have partnered to provide InCOP training to the agencies 800 personnel and surrounding departments.

MIPT's InCOP 1 Train-the-Trainer course was rolled out May 8th and 9th, 2012 to officers with the goal of improving information collection and reporting skills throughout the state.

"MIPT's mission to train law enforcement is founded in the Oklahoma City bombing. Timothy McVeigh stole components for the bomb and assembled it in Kansas," stated MIPT's Training Director Charles Allen. "Terrorism links our obviously found on a local level and as police officers we need to constantly be reminded that it might be in our backyard."

InCOP is designed to improve the fundamental and essential skill of information collection for uniformed officers. InCOP 1 concepts are reinforced by the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI).

Other agencies taking the training during this session included: Elsworth, Minneapolis, Osborne, Salina, Shawnee and Wichita Police Departments.

These agencies join other law enforcement departments such as Milwaukee, Denver, Boston, Chicago, Miami-Dade and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office as having received courses in the InCOP program.
