Fencemaster of Houston Encourages Support for Pup Squad Animal Rescue

Wrought Iron Fence Donated to Animal Rescue Group in Houston

HOUSTON TX--(Marketwire - May 9, 2012) - Fencemaster, a leading Houston fence company, is asking local residents to help support Pup Squad Animal Rescue. The non-profit organization helps save puppies from life-threatening situations, including shelter life.

"Often puppies brought to animal shelters die before finding a new home," says Ruben Flores Jr. of Fencemaster. "It's a shame, because there are many people in Houston wanting a puppy."

Former volunteers of BARC, Houston's Bureau of Animal Regulation and Control, founded Pup Squad in 2008 to rescue puppies and nursing litters before they enter shelters and become disease infected or euthanized. Pup Squad also works with shelters to find homes for orphaned dogs.

Flores became aware of Pup Squad when someone from the group approached him, needing a fence for an upcoming adoption event. Flores says after visiting the organization's website and learning more about what they do, he wanted to help. Fencemaster donated a custom wrought iron fence and became a supporter.

Pup Squad board member Kathy Deffebach said thanks to the donation, Pup Squad had a very successful event. "The fencing was perfect and helped to safely showcase our available puppies," she said.

Pup Squad hosts adoption events every Saturday from 11am to 3pm, weather permitting, at the Houston Pavilions on Fannin at Polk. Pup Squad also hosts special adoption events at various locations around the city, including at PetSmart stores.

Houstonians interested in adopting a puppy can drop by one of the adoption events listed on the organization's website. Those who want to offer monetary support can make tax deductible donations through the website, which also includes a "Wish List" of items needed to help care for the puppies and dogs.

"While in Houston recently, actor George Clooney talked about adopting his dog from a local pound," says Flores. "I think it's admirable when someone saves a dog's life through adoption. I hope that talk inspires others to do the same."
