Meridian Chiropractor Announces Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services

MERIDIAN, Idaho, May 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Healthy Habits Integrated Medicine of Meridian, Idaho, has announced a full range of physical medicine services to provide patients rehabilitation from a wide range of conditions and injuries. According the center, the physical medicine and rehabilitation services introduced by Healthy Habits are designed to offer patients in the Meridian area an integrated, holistic approach to pain management. These services also focus on restoring mobility and function lost due to sports injuries, auto accidents and a wide range of health conditions.

According to Meridian chiropractor Dr. Kimball Lundahl, the physical medicine services focus on helping patients manage pain due to chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia and provide chronic pain management and rehabilitation and recovery from injuries to the muscles, bones, tissues or nervous system.

"Our rehabilitation program draws from a range of therapeutic treatment methods to help our patients heal and regain lost function and mobility," said Dr. Lundahl. "These physical medicine methods include spinal manipulation, massage therapy, corrective exercises with mechanical devices, electrical stimulation, trigger point injections, natural joint injections, heat therapy, cryotherapy, as well as prescription supplements."

The chiropractor uses electrodiagnostics to evaluate and diagnose the current functionality of each patient's nervous system. An EMG, using an instrument called a surface electromygraph, gauges the electrical potential of muscle fibers. Based on evaluations of patients' physical functionality, Dr. Lundahl develops individualized physical medicine and rehabilitation treatment plans. He treats patients with pain from car accidents and sports injuries, as well as conditions such as arthritis, tendonitis, fibromyalgia, and muskuloskeletal pain, including back pain.

In addition to using physical medicine techniques, the chiropractor may include in a patient's treatment plan movement and activity modifications, adaptive and assisting devices, orthotics, braces and experiential training. "As needed, we work these approaches into a patient's care to further facilitate recovery of mobility and functionality and promote quality of life," Dr. Lundahl said. Dr. Lundahl added that massage therapy is included in the practice to manipulate affected muscles and tissues and increase the flow of oxygen-rich blood to promote healing and remove accumulated toxins.

Corrective exercises, lifestyle counseling, and prescription supplements are other complementary therapies used to complement rehabilitation at Healthy Habits. They may include movement and activity modifications that promote a return to function, according to Dr. Lundahl.

Through nutritional counseling, Dr. Lundahl stated that he advises patients on adopting diets that provide nutrients and vitamins that are essential to better health and faster healing.

In addition to physical medicine and rehabilitation services, Healthy Habits Integrated Medicine of Meridian, Idaho, offers a variety of medical services performed by Bryce Aitken, FNP including, natural trigger point injections, joint injections and prescription supplements that aid in healing the joints and muscles without side effects.
