AlliedBarton Security Services, HR Plus, Forest Advisors and the Tinley Park Emergency Management Agency Present a Free Workplace Violence Prevention Seminar

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - May 21, 2012) - AlliedBarton Security Services, the industry's premier provider of highly trained security personnel, and HR Plus, a leading provider of comprehensive solutions for employment and background screening, in partnership with Forest Advisors and the Tinley Park Emergency Management Agency will host a free workplace violence prevention seminar. The seminar will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 18451 Convention Center Drive, Tinley Park, IL.

Pam Paziotopoulos, Senior Vice President, Workplace & Intimate Partner Violence, Forest Advisors, will be discussing domestic violence and its impact on the workplace at the seminar. "The workplace is where employees who are being abused spend at least eight hours a day," she said. "It can be an ideal place for them to get the support and resources to end the abuse in their lives. Employers that identify, manage and confront domestic violence in their workplace have the power to save money and save lives."

"Preparation is key in minimizing the effects of a workplace violence situation," said Pat Carr, Director, Tinley Park Emergency Management Agency. "This process starts with defined HR policies and effective leadership. You may not always be able to stop an incident from happening but having a plan in place to execute is paramount. Specific evacuation procedures and departmental directives to help your business get back to normal need to be addressed in your plan. Workplace violence prevention is leadership's responsibility and management must create a healthy environment for employees."

Brent O'Bryan, SPHR, AlliedBarton's Vice President of Learning & Development agrees with Paziotopoulos and Carr as he speaks to the workplace violence spectrum and truly how many individuals are threatened by violence each year. "Workplace violence can affect thousands of individual lives in varying degrees," he stated. "It is unfortunate that tragedy is what brings attention to this important topic and that needs to change. AlliedBarton, Forest Advisors and the Tinley Park Emergency Management Agency are coming together to educate and work with the community to create awareness on workplace violence prevention so individuals can learn the signs of violence before tragedy strikes."

Seminar discussion topics will include domestic violence and its impact on the workplace; recognizing and preventing workplace violence; recent state policies and standards for plan implementation; community response procedures; and handling the media during a crisis.

Seminar attendees will receive a complimentary eBook copy of "Potential: Workplace Violence Prevention and Your Organizational Success" by Bill Whitmore, AlliedBarton's President and CEO.

Potential, www.potentialthebook.com, shows how a range of stakeholders -- from CEOs and other senior leaders to building management, human resources, contract security and law enforcement -- can work together to lower an organization's workplace violence risk and enhance its overall morale and performance.
