GETTYS Procurement Division Breaks Ground in Saudi Arabia

Rosewood Al Faisaliah Is the First Stand-Alone Procurement Project for GETTYS in the Kingdom

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Jun 13, 2012) - Al Faisaliah Hotel, Durrat Arriyadh in Saudi Arabia has assigned GETTYS as the procurement partner for the five-star, 152-room resort. The Al Faisaliah Hotel boasts ten villas, three restaurants, one lounge, banquet facilities and a luxurious spa and fitness center. GETTYS is consistently ranked among the most powerful buyers of hospitality Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) and Operating Supplies & Equipment (OS&E) bringing 24 years of hospitality procurement experience to each and every project they undertake.

"The combination of our sourcing knowledge and brand understanding enable us to pair the correct manufacturers to the project taking a multitude of factors into account," says Jason Bramhall, procurement director at GETTYS. "Origin of production, caliber of each manufacturer, and relevant specialization given regional themes for a project like Al Faisaliah are just a few facets important to the overall success of the project."

Each and every project brings an interesting set of challenges to the forefront and Saudi Arabia is no different. As an example, customs regulations vary from country to country and Saudi Arabia is identified as one of the more stringent with respect to documentation requirements, inspections and releases to the client. GETTYS had to utilize their close network of logistical contacts to ensure a seamless transfer of materials to the job site. Additionally, GETTYS was able to call upon its alliance partner GETTYS|BLU, headquartered in Jeddah, for assistance as required.

"Our client was seeking a firm that could bring a tremendous amount of experience to the project given the scale of Al Faisaliah," says Bramhall. "While it is set to become the ownership group's fourth Rosewood property in Saudi, this one is a bit different as a complement to an 800 residential villa development outside of Riyadh.

The interior design firm is located in South Africa so GETTYS was able to utilize their network of offices and international design experience to assist the owner and the design team in local procurement procedures and logistics.

"GETTYS has a very solid relationship with the ownership group as well as the brand and operator at Al Faisaliah," adds Bramhall. "We've had the ability to collaborate on the project as a whole, beginning with the model room to determine the best course of action for the opening of this five star resort-hotel and spa."

The procurement team always aligns their priorities with the best interests of the client/owner. With GETTYS also working on hospitality development initiatives and carrying its own portfolio, the company's depth of knowledge relative to this transcends the more traditional procurement firms in the market.

"We take these same queues and principles and apply them to our clients' projects so that the end result is an extremely popular and profitable hotel property," adds Bramhall.

GETTYS collaborated with Al Faisaliah to develop budgets at the beginning of the project and worked to maintain that budget throughout the duration. Additionally, GETTYS has the advantage of a full hotel design studio as a resource for questions, value engineering suggestions, and verification of specifications prior to the issuance of any purchase orders. Their in-house finance team also assists with relevant project reporting, audits supplier invoices for accuracy and releases payments according to the project schedule.

Throughout the project, GETTYS' procurement team coordinated directly with Al Faisaliah, Rosewood, their project managers, suppliers, freight and logistics teams, plus the FF&A installers to ensure timely and on budget project implementation.
