Marysville Chiropractor Uses Graston Technique for Enhanced Pain Relief

MARYSVILLE, Wash., June 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Performance Chiropractic announced that the practice has had significant success using the Graston Technique, a non-invasive treatment, for enhanced pain relief. According to chiropractor Dr. Vuong Vo, the Graston Technique is designed to help patients struggling with acute or chronic pain. Dr. Vo uses specially designed stainless steel instruments to detect areas of soft tissue inflammation in the body. Dr. Vo says that the instruments help break up scar tissue, which relieves pain and allows the body to gently heal itself.

"As a Marysville chiropractor, my focus is on whole body wellness," said Dr. Vo. "My goal is to provide long-lasting pain relief that helps the body safely heal. The Graston Technique naturally complements chiropractic adjustments and has made a huge difference for my patients overall health. I highly recommend this treatment."

The Graston Technique is a patented form of soft tissue mobilization that is designed to improve injury treatment and speed rehabilitation. Practitioners like Dr. Vo use stainless steel instruments to assist in identifying scar tissue for precise treatment.

Originally developed for use with professional athletes, Dr. Vo says the treatment is now changing the way clinicians treat injuries. More than 11,500 clinicians offer this treatment, as well as elite sports trainers with NFL, MBA and NBA professional teams. "I am proud to offer my patients the same revolutionary treatment used by elite professional athletes," said Dr. Vo.

The treatment is designed to identify and break up scar tissue. According to Dr. Vo, following an injury the body will attempt to heal itself. In some cases, the tissue will not properly repair itself, which leads to a build up of scar tissue. Scar tissue causes inflammation, swelling and exacerbates chronic pain.

During a treatment session, Dr. Vo gently moves the stainless steel instruments over the body. The instruments pass easily over natural tissue but catch on scar tissue. Once a lump of scar tissue is identified, Dr. Vo will then use another instrument to break this up. "Once a lump of scar tissue is identified and broken up, the body will reabsorb this tissue and properly heal," said Dr. Vo. "In my own practice, I have had significant success using this treatment to heal a variety of injuries, including chronic neck pain and back pain."

Dr. Vo incorporates the Graston Technique with traditional Marysville chiropractic care and other therapies, including physical therapy and massage therapy.

"The Graston Technique is one component of a comprehensive treatment plan to relieve pain," said Dr. Vo. "By breaking up scar tissue, the body is able to properly heal. Following Graston treatments, physical rehabilitation helps my patients safely regain a full range of motion."
