GovDelivery Receives Independent Accessibility Certification From the Wehrman Collaborative (WeCo)

Use of WeCo's Access Approved(TM) Logo Reinforces GovDelivery's Continued Commitment to Product Accessibility and 508 Compliance

ST. PAUL, Minn., July 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GovDelivery and the Wehrman Collaborative, LLC (WeCo), an accessibility testing organization, announced today that GovDelivery has been granted a limited right of use of WeCo's Access Approved™ logo. This recognition illustrates that GovDelivery meets WeCo's user-experience standards of accessibility for all people, regardless of their disability.

As a dedicated government solutions provider, all of GovDelivery's products are 508 compliant. WeCo's independent accessibility standards verification of GovDelivery's Digital Communication Management solution reinforces the company's commitment to designing accessible solutions and to undergoing extensive testing to ensure solutions meet specific government needs.

Use of the WeCo Access Approved™ logo is granted to organizations that submit their digital asset to extensive user-experience testing by a team of WeCo's Certified Test Consultants on WeCo's exclusive Accessibility Test Platform. The use of the logo was granted to GovDelivery based on user-experience tests conducted by WeCo on GovDelivery's web-based Digital Communication Management solution in 2012.

"Serving government means having very specific and high standards, especially with regard to accessibility. GovDelivery has always been focused on providing communications solutions to government so they can better interact with the public, and 508 compliance is critical in this regard. We're proud to have WeCo's independent accessibility verification of GovDelivery Digital Communication Management as this provides us with a marked distinction," said Brent Kastner, Vice President of Technology for GovDelivery.

WeCo's Certified Test Consultant teams are comprised of people who live with a variety of disabilities. WeCo believes that these individuals are experts at access simply by navigating their lives each day and, combined with the exclusive WeCo Accessibility Test Platform, can put their experiences to work making web sites and digital communications more accessible for everyone.

WeCo President and Founder, Lynn Wehrman further explains, "Our Accessibility Test Platform is based upon the WeCo Standards of Access, which are developed around measures for accessible web design. These focus on how people living with disabilities interact with online environments and products, as established by the Voluntary Product Template (VPAT) Standards used by the Federal Government (to determine compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Action of 1973); by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) promoted by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C); and by the University of Illinois Great Lakes Americans with Disabilities Center. WeCo enhanced these standards and shifted the focus from design to center more on the end-user experience."
