OXNARD, Calif., July 24, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rolling Oaks Radiology, a division of RadNet, Inc. (Nasdaq:RDNT), a national market leader providing high-quality, cost-effective diagnostic imaging services through a network of 237 fully-owned and operated outpatient imaging centers, announced it now offers GE Healthcare SenoBrightTM Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography (CESM) at their Oxnard location.

CESM uses an injectable contrast agent to analyze blood flow patterns within breast tissue. This provides a contrast-enhanced image of suspicious masses – facilitating the search to localize a lesion. Doctors are able to complement the conventional mammogram image with a CESM image. The CESM technique removes normal tissue signals and identifies potential abnormal tissue, which enhances with the contrast.

Launched in 2011, SenoBright is already in use at 17 major mammography centers in France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Japan.

"An initial suspicious finding on a screening mammogram is a daunting, emotional experience. CESM allows our doctors to provide essential information to women the same day as the procedure – helping to relieve anxiety and quicken efforts to identify potential cancers," said Dr. Robert Princenthal, president of Rolling Oaks Radiology and director of Women's Imaging. "Our patients in Ventura County will have a unique opportunity to benefit from the latest technological development within the breast care imaging field."

Clinical indications for CESM include: When a screening mammogram or ultrasound are inconclusive, in high risk patients with dense breasts, for preoperative planning in known breast cancer, a suspicious palpable finding with negative mammogram or ultrasound and when a patient is unable to have a MRI.
