Mobilitie Brings 4G Wireless Coverage to the 2012 Democratic National Convention and the Charlotte Bobcats

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., July 30, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Attendees at the upcoming 2012 Democratic National Convention and Charlotte Bobcats fans will be able to keep their mobile devices connected thanks to a state-of-the-art 4G wireless Distributed Antenna System ("DAS") network recently installed by Mobilitie, LLC.  The new Mobilitie DAS installed at the Time Warner Cable Arena includes the installation of 524 antennas located throughout the facility that will improve wireless coverage, capacity and data speeds during peak event times.  In addition to ensuring voice calls are successfully connected, the DAS will allow smart phones, tablets, and other devices to access the internet, run interactive applications, and quickly upload photos and videos to social networking sites among many other benefits.

"Mobilitie is excited to provide Charlotte Bobcats fans and attendees at the 2012 DNC with this state-of-the-art system," commented Christos Karmis, President of Mobilitie.  "DAS installations at marquee venues such as the Time Warner Cable Arena highlight Mobilitie's national strategy to provide wireless solutions at key public venues."  Mobilitie is currently deploying DAS networks at numerous high-capacity venues across the country for several professional sports teams as well as other industry verticals.   "Mobilitie's DAS networks are designed as neutral hosts capable of addressing the network challenges faced by every carrier in delivering the type of wireless experience desired by their customers.  Our DAS networks provide carriers with a solution to meet the requirements and capabilities of the newest and most powerful mobile devices, which are continually evolving."

The Mobilitie DAS network will be operational for the 2012 Democratic National Convention and the next Charlotte Bobcats season.  According to President and Chief Operating Officer of the Charlotte Bobcats, Fred Whitfield, "We are committed to providing superior wireless coverage to our customers that support the Bobcats and attend events at Time Warner Cable Arena.  Our partnership with Mobilitie to deploy the DAS will provide an exceptional wireless experience for the nearly 2 million consumers we welcome annually."

Mobilitie's role as a neutral host DAS operator requires extensive planning and coordination with the major wireless carriers.  According to Mike McNelly, SVP of National Site Development for Mobilitie, "We have been working hard on the design and installation of the DAS to ensure a successful deployment under a relatively short timeframe.  This includes working closely with the carriers to incorporate their technical requirements and frequencies into the DAS design."

According to Frank Cairon, Executive Director - Network for Verizon Wireless, "We are pleased to work alongside Mobilitie and the Time Warner Arena to deploy this type of DAS network.  Running the Verizon Wireless network on Mobilitie's infrastructure will help ensure our customers have the best wireless experience when attending the DNC and the many events hosted at the Time Warner arena."  According to Bob Azzi, SVP Network for Sprint, "We value our partnership with Mobilitie to deploy these types of complex DAS networks.  We are pleased to provide enhanced wireless service to our customers who attend Charlotte Bobcats games and other key events that take place annually at Time Warner Cable Arena."  Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile will be operational in time for the 2012 DNC event, and will continue to provide improve service to their customers who attend Charlotte Bobcats games and all other events held at the Time Warner Cable Arena.
