US Signal Attains VMware vCloud(R) Powered Validation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Aug. 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- US Signal, an industry leading service provider in network and infrastructure solutions, today announced that its Resource Pool public cloud service has achieved VMware vCloud® Powered status, illustrating to customers that the company's cloud services are underpinned by VMware's leading virtualization and cloud computing technology, namely VMware vSphere® and VMware vCloud Director. A member of the VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP), US Signal provides its VMware vCloud Powered service as a set of cloud computing services across a common platform, supporting the largest set of existing applications and offering distinctive application mobility uniquely available from VMware.

"VMware is the leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, and we are pleased to add their technology and capabilities to our expanding set of computing, data center and managed services. US Signal operates several data centers in the Midwest and connects them with our own layer 2 and layer 3 networking technologies using our own fiber network. This offers unique capabilities when combined with Cloud Services powered by VMware's virtualization capabilities," says Dan Olrich, chief technology officer, US Signal.

"The VMware vCloud Powered program was developed to enable our service provider partners to differentiate themselves and help them bring their enterprise-class cloud services to market in this competitive landscape," said Mike McDonough, leader, Americas Service Provider Program, VMware. "We look forward to supporting US Signal further as it delivers on the agility and performance customers are looking for in the cloud computing landscape."

Customers of US Signal have the ability to move workloads from their VMware vSphere-based virtualized or private cloud environment to the VMware vCloud Powered service and back again. This application portability is a key differentiator allowing customers to achieve the flexibility and security they need while enabling increased IT agility.

US Signal sought VMware vCloud Powered validation in order to partner with the industry leading provider of virtualization and cloud infrastructure, and allow customers to move resources seamlessly from their current vSphere-based environment to a vCloud Powered solution and back again. As a validated provider, US Signal can now provide users with enhanced responsiveness and agility, and reduced IT costs through increased consolidation, task automation and simplified management. The service debuted on August 1, 2012, in order to give customers a solution that is secure, agile and provide faster response to the IT demands of their business.
