Tiversa and McAfee Combine Forces to Combat Data

Nearly 19 Million Records Lost or Stolen so Far in 2012

PITTSBURGH, Pa., Aug. 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- According to the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, nearly 19 million records have been lost or stolen in the U.S. through the first six months of this year, a pace which could place the yearly total over 40 million for the first time since 2009.

In an attempt to reduce the risks organizations experience as a result of online data breaches, Tiversa (www.tiversa.com) and McAfee (www.mcafee.com) are stressing the need for their combined offerings utilizing McAfee® ePolicy Orchestrator® (McAfee ePO™) software. Tiversa's integration of its Peer-to-Peer Breach Protection Services with McAfee ePO software 4.5 and 4.6 has achieved "McAfee Compatible" status in the McAfee® Security Innovation Alliance™ partner program. Current McAfee ePO software users can now access tickets and reports for Tiversa Corporate Breach Protection, Federal Breach Protection, and SMB Breach Protection quickly and easily through their McAfee ePO software console.

"Data breaches have become so commonplace that organizations and consumers are almost insensitive to overall damage that occurs," notes Bob Boback, Tiversa Founder and CEO. "Our company discovers new losses of personal information, confidential business data and classified government information every single day, most of which are never reported publicly. It's time for every consumer, business owner and governmental entity to start paying attention to the problem and restrict unauthorized access to critical information. Firewalls need to be supplemented with other protection methods."

In today's world of open communication, one of the greatest challenges that privacy, information security, and risk management professionals face is how to provide open and direct access to information while protecting sensitive and confidential documents. Tiversa has seen millions of individual records and sensitive files inadvertently being shared on Peer-to-Peer ("P2P") file-sharing networks across many thousands of software applications. This type of confidential information continues to frequently be exposed by organizations as well as their agents, key suppliers, and trusted partners.

"The addition of Tiversa as a McAfee Security Innovation Alliance partner has further extended McAfee's comprehensive suite of security products, enabling our customers to now detect and mitigate the inherent risks posed by Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file-sharing networks," said Ed Barry, McAfee Vice President, Security Innovation Alliance. "Tiversa's plugin for ePolicy Orchestrator software is expected to allow our customers to receive timely alerts in order to further enhance their security as it relates to P2P network threat mitigation and intelligence."

To further satisfy the customer demand for innovative and streamlined security and intelligence services, Tiversa provides a simple way for customers to subscribe to Peer-to-Peer Breach Protection Services via the McAfee ePO software console.
