Red Eagle Games and Jet Set Games to Co-Develop Wheel of Time Mobile Games

Successful Game Developer to Join Red Eagle Games in Producing Mobile Games Based on Robert Jordan's Fantasy Classic "The Wheel of Time"

MALIBU, CA and LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Aug 14, 2012) - Red Eagle Games and Jet Set Games today announced they are collaborating on the development of a mobile game for smartphones and tablets based on Robert Jordan's best-selling fantasy series, "The Wheel of Time."

Titled "First Banner of the Rising Sun," the game will be a tactical RPG designed to run on smartphones and tablet computers using Apple's iOS and Google's Android operating system software. Exploring the back stories of the published novels, the game will chronicle the desperate days of the Aiel War, when a ragtag unit of old soldiers and stable boys was pressed into action to defend the people of Cairhein from the onslaught of a savage invading army. Players will take command of these soldiers and lead them into battle against an army comprised of the greatest warriors in the world.

Game publisher Red Eagle Games plans to publish a series of video games based on "The Wheel of Time" on all major platforms.

Jet Set Games was founded in 2008 by Brett Sperry and Rade Stojsavljevic, veterans of the game industry whose earlier work at Westwood Studios and Electronic Arts defined real-time strategy gameplay with favorites like the "Command & Conquer" series, "Blade Runner" and "Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth." Jet Set Games' recent work includes "Highborn," the critically acclaimed turn-based strategy game for iOS and Android devices.

"The leadership of Jet Set Games brings decades of experience in creating successful strategy and role-playing experiences to the fast-growing markets for mobile and social games," said Rick Selvage, chief executive officer of Red Eagle Games. "Ardent fans of the series will soon be able to experience 'The Wheel of Time' in an entirely new way -- by playing a mobile game built by a team that is equally passionate about Robert Jordan's work."

"We are pleased to have been selected to help Red Eagle Games develop its first mobile game based on one of world's great fantasy epics," said Rade Stojsavljevic, president of Jet Set Games. "We intend to give mobile players a thrilling adventure taking place against the backdrop of monumental events that are critical to shaping the history of Robert Jordan's world."

The details of Jordan's meticulously crafted series have captivated readers since 1990, when "The Eye of the World," the first book in the series, was published. Twelve full-length novels and a prequel have since been added to the series and have consistently appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List, with the last six books in the series debuting at No. 1. Jordan passed away in 2007, but the series is being completed in three novels that are being co-authored by fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson using notes, audio recordings and draft materials left with Jordan's wife and editor, Harriet Rigney. The epic story will reach its long-awaited climax on January 8, 2013, when final installment in the series, "A Memory of Light," will be released by Tor Books.

Numerous web sites dedicated to the Jordan's work form a vast and global on-line fan community. These wildly popular books have been translated into 24 languages, and have sold tens of millions of copies worldwide. Red Eagle Games' principals Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon are producing a live-action motion picture based upon "The Wheel of Time" for Universal Pictures through their production company, Red Eagle Entertainment.
