ATLANTA, Aug. 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Atlanta chiropractor Dr. Edward Schneider of PSS Injury & Wellness Center has started what he calls the "Rub Club" to provide monthly, discounted massage therapy sessions to people who join the club. Dr. Schneider says this is to introduce more people to the overall health benefits of massage and to raise awareness of how it works together with chiropractic care, particularly for people overcoming a personal injury. Currently, the Rub Club is offering a 30-minute trial massage session for $19.00 (regularly $45.00 for non-members) that can be upgraded to a 60-minute massage for $39.00 (regularly $75.00).
Dr. Schneider says one of the main goals of the Rub Club is to reduce stress in patients. "First, we just want more people to experience how massage helps them reduce stress levels. So many ailments are either caused by or worsened by stress; that includes everything from headaches, depression and back pain to heart disease, diabetes and asthma. As a society, we need to de-stress, and massage is a great way to help people mentally and physically."
According to Dr. Schneider, they use massage as an integral part of chiropractic care for their patients throughout East Atlanta, Grant Park and Ormewood neighborhoods. He explains that it relieves musculoskeletal tensions that can adversely affect spinal alignment. He recommends massage before or after spinal adjustments because it relaxes and warms the muscles, increases circulation and may decrease chronic inflammation. The chiropractor says massage also stimulates the body to produce endorphins for natural pain relief. He says it is particularly effective for treating cases of whiplash, personal injury and sports injury.
Dr. Schneider says that people who join the massage club do not have to be patients. Anyone can sign up for one of two monthly massage plans to receive regular massage therapy at discounted club rates. The monthly pre-paid plan gives members a 60-minute massage every month for $49.95 (regularly $75.00) with additional massages costing $35.00 per hour. The Unlimited Flex plan (for people who want to schedule multiple monthly massages) costs $15.95 per month, with each 60-minute massage costing $40.00. The $50.00 start-up fee for each plan is waived if the customer joins the club at the time of their introductory massage.
