Magma and Fusion-io Deliver Breakthrough Mobile Computing Performance for Visual Effects Applications at IBC 2012

Magma ExpressBox 3T Featuring Fusion ioFX, Red Rocket and AJA Kona Powers Assimilate Scratch With Ultra Low Latency on MacBook Pro

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Sept. 5, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At IBC 2012, Magma's ExpressBox 3T will be used to demonstrate real- time, full resolution, uncompressed video editing on a MacBook Pro using Assimilate ScratchTM, a Fusion ioFX, a Red Rocket card and AJA Kona. The solution will be on display in the Assimilate booth (Hall 7 H11) during the IBC expo.

ExpressBox 3T is an 'outside-the-box' expansion chassis designed to use PCIe products with Thunderbolt-equipped computers to enhance high performance workflow. The demonstration with Scratch and Fusion-io highlights the benefits Magma's ExpressBox 3T provides to visual effects and motion graphics artists by giving them the flexibility to use a MacBook Pro, MacMini, iMac or any other Thunderbolt equipped computer rather than being limited to a Mac Pro or PC Workstation for powerful entertainment production applications.

"With the Fusion ioFX and Magma ExpressBox 3T, visual effects artists can now achieve unprecedented throughput even while on the road," said Vincent Brisebois, Director of Visual Computing, Fusion-io. "The ioFX is designed to give artists more creative freedom to explore more ideas, so we're pleased to team up with Magma to develop a mobile solution that delivers high performance application acceleration. The portability of the ioFX with Magma means that now creative professionals can take powerful ioFX performance with them when they go on set or work with clients outside the studio environment."

A variety of PCIe products are supported from leading vendors such as Fusion-io, Red Rocket, AJA, and Blackmagic Design as an on-set solution for real-time playback and export. A list of compatible PCIe products is available on the Magma website.
