World-Famous BODIES REVEALED Exhibition to Open October 6 in Allentown, PA

Educational Exhibition Featuring Actual Human Bodies to be on Display at Da Vinci Science Center Through February 2013

ALLENTOWN, Pa., Sept. 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Premier Exhibitions, Inc. and Da Vinci Science Center announced today that BODIES REVEALED, a traveling exhibition of authentic human specimens, will make its Lehigh Valley debut on October 6.

BODIES REVEALED will offer Da Vinci Science Center visitors a unique opportunity to see inside real anatomical specimens and learn the detailed structure and function of the human body. The Exhibition takes visitors through a series of galleries for an up-close look inside the skeletal, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, circulatory, and other systems of the human body. Many of the carefully preserved whole body specimens are dissected in vivid athletic poses, allowing the visitor to relate to everyday activities. Other specimens illustrate the damage caused to internal organs by unhealthy behaviors, such as a healthy lung displayed next to a black lung ravaged by smoking.

BODIES REVEALED marks the first major exhibit of Da Vinci Science Center's Year of the Human Body, sponsored by St. Luke's University Health Network. The Year of the Human Body will offer 12 months of visitor exhibits, public programs, and industry initiatives designed to broaden interest and participation in medical careers.

"This October, the Lehigh Valley will have the unique opportunity to see itself in a whole new way—through the miraculous, real human bodies of BODIES REVEALED," says Dr. Roy Glover, Chief Medical Director for BODIES REVEALED. "Due to the Lehigh Valley's rich culture, appreciation for health, and overall enthusiasm for an entertaining experience, we are excited to work alongside Da Vinci Science Center and St. Luke's University to bring BODIES REVEALED to Allentown. The topic of health is very personal and appeals to a diverse audience, and we hope that the impact this exhibition has on Lehigh Valley visitors remains for generations to come."

The exhibition will be available to Da Vinci Science Center visitors with their regular admission fee, plus a $10.00 exhibition fee, through February 10, 2013. Da Vinci Science Center members can see it for $8.50 with their free standard admission. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the web at davincisciencecenter.org/tickets.

Other cities that have recently hosted the exhibit include Grand Rapids, MI; Myrtle Beach, SC; Galveston, TX; and Boise, ID.

About BODIES REVEALED

BODIES REVEALED is operated by Atlanta-based Premier Exhibitions, Inc., a major provider of museum-quality touring exhibitions throughout the world. The Exhibition is currently receiving worldwide acclaim, attracting nearly 15 million visitors. BODIES REVEALED features real human body specimens that are preserved through a revolutionary technique called polymer preservation, which can take more than a year to complete. In this process, human tissue is permanently preserved using liquid silicone rubber that is treated and hardened. The end result is a rubberized specimen, preserved to the cellular level, showcasing the complexity of the body's many bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and organs.
