The Joint Commission and JCR's 2012 Home Care Executive Briefings Conference


OAK BROOK, IL--(Marketwire - Sep 10, 2012) - On October 10 and 11, The Joint Commission and Joint Commission Resources (JCR) will host the 2012 Home Care Executive Briefings to provide home care leaders with information on meeting new and updated accreditation requirements. Held at the Joint Commission headquarters in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., the briefings will also discuss The Joint Commission's accreditation processes for the Home Care Accreditation Program in 2013.

The 2012 Home Care Executive Briefings, "Opportunity and Growth," feature tracks tailored to the needs of the durable medical equipment, home health, hospice, and home health pharmacy settings. The tracks for home health and hospice will be presented October 10, and the durable medical equipment and home health pharmacy tracks will be presented October 11. The briefings will also feature presentations from Joint Commission leaders, including Margherita Labson, RN, M.S.H.S.A., CCM, CPHQ, CGB, executive director, Home Care Program; Kay Kruse, M.B.A., surveyor support and intracycle monitoring director; and Wayne Murphy, RRT-NPS, MPS, associate director, Home Care Program. Presentations will cover topics that are crucial to all home care services and include the following:

  • Understanding The Joint Commission's new Intracycle Monitoring process for 2013,
  • Increasing hospital and physician engagement,
  • Conducting effective emergency management drills to meet Joint Commission standards,
  • Addressing the most challenging standards,
  • Addressing safety issues related to transitions of care, and
  • Using the tracer methodology to enhance key operational processes.

The Home Care Executive Briefings are recommended for home health and hospice clinical leaders, business leaders, and individuals responsible for quality, process improvement, and accreditation; durable medical equipment owners, directors, and managers; and pharmacists who work in the home care setting.
