The Big Ass Fan Company Honored by Inc. Magazine

World Leader in High-Performance Fans Among Inc. 5000 for Sixth Consecutive Year

Lexington, Ky., Sept. 11, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For the sixth consecutive year, the Big Ass Fan Company, the worldwide leader in large diameter, low speed fans, has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the nation.  Inc. magazine's prestigious Inc. 5000 list highlights America's independent entrepreneurs.   Big Ass Fans has earned a place on the coveted listing since it was started in 2007.

Moving up more than 700 places to be ranked at number 3,008 on the list this year, Big Ass Fans has shown a 72 percent growth in revenue over the past three years.

"Being part of the Inc. 5000 list is a great achievement," says Carey Smith, Big Ass Fans President and CEO, who founded the company 13 years ago.  "We could not have achieved these results without our dedicated, enthusiastic local workforce; they have been critical to our continuous growth.  This recognition underscores their excellence and the success of our unwavering focus on product innovation, quality and customer satisfaction."

In a stagnant economic environment, the companies on this year's Inc. 5000 list created more than 400,000 jobs over the past three years.

"Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs and drive the economy forward.  Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is," advises Inc. Editor-in-Chief Eric Schurenberg.

The Big Ass Fan Company will join this year's honorees at the Inc. 500/5000 Conference & Awards Ceremony, October 3-5, 2012, in Phoenix, Ariz.   Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region and other criteria, can be found at www.inc.com/5000.

Methodology

The 2012 Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2008 with 2011. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2008.  They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent--not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies--as of December 31, 2011.  (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.)  The minimum revenue required for 2008 is $100,000; the minimum for 2011 is $2 million.  As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons.  Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.'s September issue.  They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at www.inc.com/500.
