Berkeley Research Group Announces Two New Appointments to Healthcare Special Advisory Board

EMERYVILLE, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 19, 2012) - Berkeley Research Group, a leading global expert services and consulting firm, has appointed two distinguished physicians to its Healthcare Special Advisory Board, which comprises expert physician leaders nationally renowned for clinical excellence and change management in healthcare. The role of each advisory board member is to counsel BRG and its healthcare provider clients on clinical redesign and industry best practices to improve healthcare value (i.e., quality, safety, and cost) in the special advisor's specialty area. Joining the Board are Marc R. Katz, MD, MPH, and Okechukwu N. Ojogho, MD, MMM, FACS.

Dr. Katz is a leading cardiothoracic surgeon and pioneer in the field of robotic heart surgery. In addition to mitral valve repairs and other cardiothoracic procedures, Dr. Katz has performed almost 200 heart transplants, including the first dual heart-kidney transplant in the eastern United States. Dr. Katz is currently a cardiac surgery specialist at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Dr. Ojogho is a highly accomplished kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant surgeon who served as director and surgeon-in-chief of the Transplantation Institute in Loma Linda, California. He presently serves as the Surgical Program director of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital's Adult/Pediatric Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Program in Spokane, Washington.

Drs. Katz and Ojogho join board member David V. Feliciano, MD, FACS, one of the foremost leaders in general surgery and trauma care in the United States.

"The national prominence of the physician leaders joining BRG's Healthcare Special Advisory Board is both a reflection of BRG's commitment to providing the healthcare community with unsurpassed thought leadership in critical areas and a testament to our stature as a leading healthcare consultancy," said BRG Chairman and Principal Executive Officer David J. Teece.

Dr. Andrew Agwunobi, a leader of BRG's Hospital Performance Improvement practice, board-certified pediatrician, and former CEO of Grady Health System in Atlanta and other hospital systems, said the advisory board will give health providers the benefit of unique experience from some of the top physicians in their respective specialties.
