Towson, Maryland, Nov. 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bowie & Jensen, a premier business law firm, is pleased to announce that Carolyn Mech has joined the firm as an associate in the litigation and labor and employment departments.

Ms. Mech's practice focuses on employment law, as well as general commercial litigation. Ms. Mech is admitted to the Maryland Bar and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Howard County Bar Association.
Before joining Bowie & Jensen, Carolyn served as a law clerk for the Honorable Sally D. Adkins for the Maryland Court of Appeals, Maryland's highest court. She also clerked for the Honorable Lenore R. Gelfman, Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Howard County. With Judge Gelfman, Carolyn co-authored A Solo Practitioner's Guide to the Use of Technology in the Courtroom, 45 Md. Bar J. 42 (2012). Additionally, she interned at the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs, where she assisted the Secretary in promoting veteran policy, including the drafting of veteran tax legislation.
Ms. Mech graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in May 2009. While in law school, she worked as an associate editor on the Journal of Race, Religion, Gender and Class. She also served as the student liaison to the Women's Bar Association of Maryland and treasurer for the Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Society. In 2008, Carolyn and other law students traveled to the Gulf Coast to provide free legal services to residents displaced by Katrina, earning the University of Maryland Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Diversity Recognition Award for Achievements by a Student Group. She also gained litigation experience working as a Rule 16 attorney in the law school's Immigration Clinic, where she successfully represented clients at the United States Immigration Court in Baltimore and the Board of Immigration Appeals in Virginia.
