Fernando Pighin & Figli Launches Sauvignon Blanc in the US Market Imported by Kobrand Corporation

PURCHASE, NY--(Marketwire - December 04, 2012) -  Pinot Grigio producer Fernando Pighin & Figli announces the national launch of their Sauvignon Blanc in the US Market with the 2011 vintage. The family-run estate was founded in 1963 by brothers Ercole, Luigi and Fernando Pighin and produces two of the most highly regarded Pinot Grigios in Friuli, from two of the region's best properties, Friuli Grave and Collio.

Located between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, Grave and Collio are considered to be Friuli's best areas for the production of quality white wines. Pighin voluntarily restricts its vineyard yields to 75% to 80% of that permitted under DOC law, to concentrate varietal character, and ensure the highest quality fruit.

Following suit with the rest of their portfolio, the fruit for the Pighin Sauvignon Blanc is hand harvested and pressed in state-of-the-art pneumatic presses. To promote true varietal character, this wine is produced without malolactic fermentation or oak contact. The Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of two clones, 70% Rauscedo 3 and 30% Clone 108 of Sancerre origin. Combined, these clones result in a wine which shows intense and persistent aromas of tomato leaves, with notes of wild green peppers and elderflower. In the mouth, the wine has elegant, fresh and full flavors and excellent length on the palate.
