"Northeast Fishing & Hunting Show'' is Coming February 15-17, 2013 to Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford


HARTFORD, Conn., Dec. 5, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The "16th annual Northeast Fishing & Hunting Show" presented by STIHL® Solutions will take place on Friday, February 15 through Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Connecticut Convention Center at 100 Columbus Blvd. in Hartford, Conn. Show hours: Friday, February 15 from 12 noon to 7 p.m.; Saturday, February 16 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, February 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Show features hundreds of booths showcasing the latest products for fishing and hunting enthusiasts and is designed as a great outing for the entire family. More than 50 hours of seminars by national and regional expert fishermen and hunters, demonstrations at a casting pond and fly-tying center, and hands-on activities all are included with admission. One new feature this year is the "Elements of Nature" Show featuring artists and unique pieces in wood, antler, stone, clay, bronze, photography and taxidermy.

"Attendees will discover the newest fishing, hunting and outdoor equipment by some of the top manufacturers and can purchase a variety of products," explains organizer Kristie Gonsalves, President of North East Expos. "They will meet charter boat captains, check out new models of fishing boats, watch fly casting and fly tying demonstrations, and enjoy lots of interactive activities."

Featured seminar presenters include: NBC Sports and NESN's Charlie Moore, The Mad Fisherman; Greg Myerson, World Record Holder for largest Striped Bass with his winning 81.88 lbs catch; Lane Benoit, legendary Vermont whitetail buck tracker; and Del DelMastro, archery tackle and urban deer hunter.

Fly-fishing experts include Marla Blair and Dave Brandt. Charter boat captains include Greg DuBrule, Bruce Millar, Bill Brown and Pete Meyers. Fishing lure manufacturers include Al Gag, Smash'em Fishing & Tackle, and The Run Off Lure Company. Among the many fly-tiers will be Mike Motyl, Bill Newcomb, Fred Wilson and Leslie Wrixon.

Activities and Displays will include: Big Buck Club's "Score Your Rack" exhibit – bring your rack; ocean fishing skill testing on a Virtual Realty Fishing Simulator; live fishing at a Catch & Release Trout Pond – catch a tagged fish and win a child's rod and reel; Talons! Birds of Prey live animals; NRA Laser Shooting Range; Sportsmen's Outpost's archery range; Kids' Bass Casting Competition sponsored by the Connecticut Bass Federation Booth; and the "Elements of Nature" show that includes wood carving, wood turning and paint demonstrations.

The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection will provide the latest rules and regulations dealing with wildlife, fisheries, hunting and fishing for the coming season.
