Schipul -- The Web Marketing Company Announces New Partner

HOUSTON, Jan. 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Schipul – The Web Marketing Company (www.schipul.com), a Web marketing and Open Source software development company, today announced the appointment of John-Michael Oswalt to partner. He joins founder Ed Schipul and Vice Presidents Aaron Long and Rodney Sabrsula as shareholders.

Oswalt is Schipul's programming team manager and the product manager for Tendenci®, the Open Source Content Management System (CMS) for nonprofit organizations (NPOs) developed by Schipul. Tendenci 5 was released as an Open Source product in early 2012 at the 2012 Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN) Conference in Silicon Valley. As part of that process, Oswalt led the programming team to migrate Tendenci to a scalable cloud application on Django 1.4, the latest version of the leading Python Web framework.

Savvy NPOs demand the freedom of Open Source and the ability to control their destiny free from proprietary and unpredictable constraints. According to the 2011 Nonprofit Data Ecosystem Report from NTEN, over 90 percent of Nonprofits surveyed manage their website content on either an Open Source or custom in-house built CMS.

"Tendenci is the only Open Source Python CMS built to meet the needs of the nonprofit community, and making partner shows a long-term commitment for the product," Oswalt said. "It is great that our clients and the Open Source community will participate in the important decisions being made that will shape the future of Tendenci and Schipul overall."

Prior to joining Schipul in 2009, Oswalt worked with Accenture. He earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.

The Houston Business Journal has listed Schipul – The Web Marketing Company among the fastest growing technology companies in Houston in the Fast Tech 50 for each of the past three years. Revenues in 2011 exceeded $3 million.
