India Surf Festival 2013 Celebrates Surfing Culture, Music & Art

The Scenic Coast of Ramchandi Beach in Orissa to Host ISF, a Three Day Celebration of Art, the Ocean, Adventure & Music - January 25-27, 2013


ORISSA, India, Jan. 23, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This month India's scenic Orissa coastline will host the second annual international India Surf Festival (ISF) from January 25-27. Offering total immersion in the spiritual aspects of surfing and an introduction to the sport that connect's a surfer's spirit to the ocean. At the festival participants can learn from experts about the basics of surfing, stand up paddle (SUP), yoga practice, and watch inspiring original films while enjoying art and in indulging in live musical and visual performances. All of these events are a combined effort of international participants from continents around the world, set amongst India's beautiful coastal forest at the newly discovered river mouth surf spot know as Lotus Point.

Drawing surfers and visitors from around the world including India, Singapore, Argentina, Spain, Italy, Morocco, Brazil, the US, and more. The event is expected to attract over 2,000 global travelers and 60+ registered surf participants, coming together to participate in this incredible one-of-a-kind event. This will be an event to remember as people will have the opportunity to surf, marvel at amazing art, listen to live music, or rejuvenate using solar clay therapy and dining on organic food, all in beautiful and harmonious environment.   • Location: The festival venue is located at the Lotus Eco Resort, adjacent to Ramchandi Beach at Puri-Konark Marine Drive.
  • Transportation: Regular buses from Puri to Konark are available, tell them you want to stop at Lotus. Taxis and auto rickshaws are options and it's possible to arrange vehicles for hire.

Snapshot of highlighted events and happenings. Movie screening of Ocean Monk - a film showcasing friends discovering the beauty and power of surfing. Art installations by Nova Collective - a group of four designers and musicians including Sachin Shetty, Archan Nair, Kaustubh Kamat and Harshvardhan Kadam. Musical performances by Tribal Flora (from Mumbai and Bhubaneswar) and 120DUB (from Buenos Aires, Argentina). Dance performances by villagers or nearby regions.
