"Rumors" Abound in First Novel by Travel Expert Broadcaster Stephanie Abrams With "Meet-the-Author" Events Planned in US and Ireland for Spring 2013

BOSTON, Feb. 3, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The lives of ordinary people living in suburban bliss in Nassau County, Long Island, New York, are thrown into chaos as intrigue swirls around them. It all starts with rumors, according to Stephanie Abrams, globally recognized travel industry leader, broadcaster of two nationally syndicated travel radio shows and author of "Rumors," her first novel. "I'm so excited and encouraged by the reactions of those who have read 'Rumors!' The story weaves a web of secrets, lies and loves that draws the characters together and propels them in unexpected directions that have readers waiting for the sequel and the film!" Abrams states. "Rumors" is available at Amazon.com in print and Kindle editions and from other online book retailers.

Abrams, who lived on Long Island for over 20 years, says her understanding of the region made it the perfect setting for this novel that incorporates fictionalized versions of events that inspired her writing of "Rumors." " Newsday, the 'must-read' newspaper for Long Islanders, reported stories that left a lasting impression on me. I toyed with those stories for years, added the residue of life experiences and observations from my worldwide travels and created the dramatized events and fictitious characters from my ponderings to create this novel. Once I started writing, the characters took over and told their stories through me!"

Malachy McCourt, actor, wit, and author of eight books including, "A Monk Swimming," most recently seen in the film, "The Fitzgerald's Family Christmas," remarked about "Rumors" : "Stephanie Abrams is a world traveler in full possession of sharp ears, of sharp eyes, of a sharp tongue, and of sharp senses. She is an acute observer of life. Everything that Stephanie Abrams does is 5-Stars!"

"Meet the Author" book-signing events are planned in Hartford and New Haven, Connecticut on March 6th and 7th, respectively and in New York City at The Algonquin Hotel on March 8th. The Algonquin is the scene of where some of the characters in "Rumors" rendezvous.

"If you want to sit in the cozy corner where characters Allison and David have their clandestine meeting at The Algonquin, ask for Table #3!" Abrams whispers.

Abrams notes that her novel incorporates NYC's Algonquin Hotel into the plot as it is steeped in literary history. "Between my stays at The Algonquin and living in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts where the presence of literary residents including Herman Melville and Edith Wharton are deeply felt, I was propelled down that literary path by the ghosts around me!"

The first international "Rumors" launch is being planned at The Morgan Hotel in Dublin, Ireland, hosted by its owner, Paul Fitzpatrick this spring.
