Armanino Names Dunican, Horner as Partners

Experienced Business Consultants Lead Growing Consulting Practices in Budgeting and Forecasting, Transaction Advisory Services and Business Intelligence

SAN RAMON, Calif., Feb. 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ArmaninoLLP (www.amllp.com) – the 35th largest accounting and business consulting firm in the United States and a provider of an integrated set of audit, tax, consulting and technology solutions to a wide range of organizations operating both in the U.S. and globally – has named Practice Leaders John Dunican and John Horner as Partners of the firm.

Dunican has more than 30 years of experience as a financial executive holding decision making roles in operations and consulting in both the private and public sectors. Prior to joining Armanino in 2005, he held positions of Chief Financial Officer, Vice President Finance and Administration, Treasurer, Controller and Director of Operations for companies in a variety of industry categories. At Armanino, his primary focus is on the application of technology to improve planning and forecasting capabilities of clients. He leads the firm's Adaptive Planning consulting practice which supports clients with a cloud based set of leading edge financial management applications.

Horner's career has developed on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. He spent a decade working in industry designing, developing and implementing data warehouse and business intelligence solutions in the UK, and eventually formed his own consulting company where he spent four years before migrating his business to the U.S. As a U.S.-based consultant he spent an additional four years helping companies implement their own QlikView Business Discovery solutions. In July 2011 he merged his business with Armanino where he now leads the firm's growing Business Intelligence consulting practice.

"Since joining Armanino, both John Dunican and John Horner have proven their value to our clients which is the ultimate measure of success for us," says Tom Mescall, partner-in-charge of Armanino's consulting practice. "Our clients report that they appreciate the insightful advice, action and execution they get from these two professionals that result in significant productivity gains for their businesses. Their promotion to partner is well deserved."

Dunican's background of extensive management, financial and operations skills in technology, manufacturing, publishing, service and distribution and banking, makes him a key advisor to Armanino clients in these industries. A specialty of Duncan's is mergers and acquisitions and divestitures, and as practice leader of Armanino's Transaction Advisory Services, he helps privately held companies prepare for IPOs. He is skilled in all financial functions, process reengineering, debt financing, equity fundraising, information systems, SEC and investor reporting, and cost reduction programs. His current emphasis on budgeting and forecasting is aimed at companies that are frustrated by the limitations of spreadsheets but don't want to incur the cost of large enterprise budgeting and reporting tools.

"Cloud computing has become the solution of choice for growing mid-sized companies," Dunican says. "Budgeting and forecasting software delivered on a SaaS model such as products from Adaptive Planning allow our CFO organizations to become much more flexible and collaborative because it enables input from all key stakeholders in the budgeting process. For instance, it allows users to create monthly and quarterly rolling forecasts. If you're using these rolling forecasts, which are 12-to 15-months in the future, you never really have to do an annual budget."

Horner possesses expert knowledge of the business intelligence marketplace. He has implemented innovative solutions for many clients incorporating QlikView, Microsoft SQL Service BI, and other solutions across a range of industries including consumer products, retail and distribution, utilities and professional services.

"Strong decision support is crucial in order to remain competitive," Horner says. "Making the right strategic decisions faster than your competitors is an imperative in today's market. So, it's very exciting for me to help our clients discover the deeper underlying causes of very complex challenges and then solve those problems, usually with the deployment of powerful new technologies."
