Tempo Industries Taps LED Industry Veteran Michael Bremser for VP R&D

Expands Overall Staffing at Southern California Headquarters

IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 25, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tempo Industries, LLC a leading manufacturer of superior-quality scalable, modular and linear LED lighting solutions with a 27-year lighting industry success record, announced that LED and solid state lighting industry veteran Michael Bremser has joined the company to serve as Vice President, Research & Development. Dr. Bremser served most recently as CTO & VP Engineering for Lunera Lighting, with previous roles as VP of LED Products for Fulham and CTO of Permlight. Dr. Bremser will lead Tempo's technology implementation team, overseeing product development, qualification and volume deployment.

"The addition of Michael Bremser comes at an opportune time for Tempo," commented Tempo president, Terrence Walsh. "The Tempo No Factory in the Field design philosophy is spurring a whole new set of innovations and approaches. This has highlighted the need to bring on someone who can not only implement our latest product advancements, but who also understands both the fundamental science and system level details that will be critical to the next phases of LED lighting adoption."

Dr. Bremser reports directly to Tempo Founder, Chairman and CTO, Dennis Pearson, who has been the principal architect of Tempo's vision for LED lighting product and systems development. According to Mr. Pearson, "Tempo has established leadership in scalable and modular lighting platforms for the commercial-industrial market because we recognize the disruptive nature of LED lighting technology. In his role as vice president of research and development, Michael will direct the critical functions of Tempo's rapidly expanding R&D functions, allowing my role as CTO to focus on increasing the overall leverage of our strategic technology direction."

Michael Bremser earned his PhD. in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University under the guidance of Prof. Robert Davis, who is recognized as one of the pioneers of the epitaxial science that remains the foundation of the high-performance LED devices we see today. Following his graduation, Dr. Bremser spent a number of years with LED equipment manufacturer AIXTRON, where he managed the process engineering group, coordinating complex epitaxial line start-ups for LED fabricators across the globe. He later served as a principal with industry consultants, the Compound Group, and later in engineering operations for Emcore's optical communications components wafer fabrication division. He is co-author of more than 50 papers on gallium nitride (GaN) technology, and co-inventor on three patents related to lateral overgrowth of low defect density GaN which are licensed within the LED industry.

Dr. Bremser commented, "Tempo's founder, Dennis Pearson, has long held a vision that the path towards realizing the full potential of LED lighting won't come from simply trying to adapt LED technology to traditional, often outdated, lighting systems, but rather by stepping into entirely new lighting paradigms. Perhaps the most exciting part of my role will be the opportunity to translate that strategic vision into top quality commercial lighting products, systems and platforms. I believe my background, education and commitment to LED technology is well-suited to support Tempo's vision of redefining lighting, and I am privileged by the opportunity to help lead this growing team."

As part of Tempo's continued overall expansion, particularly highlighting its rapidly growing logistics, materials and support structure, the company is also pleased to announce the following recent personnel additions:

Greg White, Materials Manager

With 17 years of direct industry experience at Kim Lighting, as well as subsequent business consulting and planning roles, Greg will apply his considerable ERP, material and IT management skills to support Tempo's rapid production ramp within the general lighting space.

Wayne Wofford, Inside Sales Manager

Wayne brings with him more than fifteen years of knowledge and broad-based experience in the lighting industry from roles with Lucifer Lighting, LAM and Rig-A-Lite. Wayne holds a BA in business management from the University of Texas.
