World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade March 17 in Hot Springs, Arkansas

HOT SPRINGS, AR--(Marketwire - Mar 7, 2013) - On March 17, 2013, tens of thousands of green-clad revelers will fill the Downtown Historic District surrounding the legendary 98-foot-long Bridge Street in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas for the First Ever Tenth Annual World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The Parade begins at 6:30 p.m. after the ceremonial measuring of the parade route. For one exciting hour, zany floats, motorcycles, classic cars, musicians, Irish Elvis impersonators and leprechauns will march down Bridge Street.

The event also features St. Patrick's Day traditions such as the annual Blarney Stone-kissing contest, known as "Romancing the Stone." This year's Celebrity Grand Marshals will be acclaimed actress Bo Derek (2010 Grand Marshal) and "Sex and the City" and recording star John Corbett (2011 Grand Marshal).

Corbett's rock band, The John Corbett Band, will play a free concert on the parade route following the parade. Members of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will perform along the parade route and the crowd will join in a giant Harlem Shake celebration before the parade.

The first World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade was held in 2004 after a local group decided that a St. Patrick's Day parade would be perfect way to attract visitors to Hot Spring's Bridge Street, the World's Shortest Street in Everyday Use. Last year an estimated 30,000 people attended.

The parade is sponsored by Visit Hot Springs and is governed by a volunteer board of various Hot Springs business owners and community leaders. For more information, visit www.shorteststpats.com.
