United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Javier Palomarez to Join Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Advisory Council

WASHINGTON, March 11, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) is proud to announce that its President & CEO Javier Palomarez has been appointed to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's (CHCI) Advisory Council.

CHCI is the leading non-profit organization in the nation providing educational services and leadership development opportunities to Latino youth.  It is the only national Latino organization that offers a wide range of programs and activities to support the educational and professional aspirations of Hispanic youth from high school through graduate school and into their chosen careers.  CHCI's award-winning programs include fellowships, internships, scholarships, and college readiness sessions for high school students, focused on supporting college attainment efforts and providing direct access to powerful Latino networks.   CHCI's Advisory Council actively participates in its overall strategic planning process and assists in implementing and monitoring the organization's goals through their engagement with the board of directors and participation in joint committees.

"We are honored to see our President & CEO join CHCI's Advisory Council and assist its efforts to facilitate the attainment of the American Dream for our nation's Hispanic youth. For over a generation, CHCI has heroically served Latino youth and directly impacts more than 1,600 young Latinos annually. CHCI program applicants are often first-generation college students and graduates, and many come from families with annual incomes below $30,000. As an organization that believes investment in education is an economic imperative, it is our duty at the USHCC to tirelessly promote programs such as CHCI's until all of our nation's underprivileged youth have access to quality continuing education," said USHCC Chairman Marc Rodriguez.

"CHCI is thrilled to welcome USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez as a new member of our 2013-2014 Advisory Council," said Esther Aguilera, CHCI President & CEO.  "CHCI and USHCC share a common mission to empower the Latino community for the future success of America and we take a strong step in that direction when we leverage dynamic partnerships to support the aspirations of Latino youth."
