Saskatchewan Credit Unions Support Ronald McDonald House Expansion

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - March 14, 2013) - Ronald McDonald House is pleased to announce Saskatchewan credit unions have come together to contribute $75,000 for the expansion of the Saskatoon house.

"Ronald McDonald House perfectly reflects our co-operative values," says Jacques DeCorby, Executive Vice President, Marketing & Communications, Conexus Credit Union. "By offering a compassionate and safe home-away-from-home for families of children with significant health issues they show the power of community involvement and the positive impact we can have on the lives of others."

Saskatchewan credit unions are proud to be able to contribute to the Ronald McDonald House and to support the Saskatchewan families who may one day walk through its doors.

"Credit unions have always had a strong connection to community," says Pam Skotnitsky, Executive Vice President, SaskCentral. "And the idea that, by working together we are all better off, is at the heart of what credit unions are all about."

Plans for the house call for a 30,000 square foot addition that will add 18 guest rooms (bringing the total to 31), laundry facilities, computer room, maternal baby care rooms, play areas for siblings, expanded kitchen facilities and family gathering areas.

"Every year we have had to turn away more and more families," says Tammy Forrester, Executive Director, Ronald McDonald House, Saskatoon. "We are fortunate to be part of a caring community that has provided the means to expand our home."

There are 55 Saskatchewan credit unions who together serve approximately 500,000 members across the province. Saskatchewan credit unions build lives and fulfill dreams by helping members achieve financial well-being and by investing in their communities.
