SAN ANTONIO, March 20, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hart Energy today awarded its Refining & Energy Company of the Year honors to Phillips 66 and Reliance Industries, its national and international recipients, respectively. The two companies were recognized at Hart Energy's World Refining & FUEL conference, "Changing Feedstocks, Changing Fuels: Effects of Unconventionals on Economics, Refining and Fuels" in San Antonio.

"These two organizations exemplify the sort of effort required to reach our goals."

The two companies were recognized for their corporate achievement in three primary categories:

  • Cleaner Environment: Producing cleaner, higher-quality gasoline and diesel fuel is among the greatest achievements recognized each year.
  • Investment and Corporate Growth: Operating with the highest international refining standards and innovative use of resources in diverse environments.
  • Vision: Innovation, global vision, and ability to chart future changes when a response to current conditions does not fully meet rising public demands or yield industry benefits.

"2012 was an outstanding year for Phillips 66," said Mike Kenney, vice president, regional manager-refineries, for Phillips 66, who accepted the award for the company. "We established Phillips 66 as an independent energy manufacturing company and we moved quickly to position our refineries to benefit from new sources of cost-advantaged crude and new markets for refined products.
