OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - 26 mars 2013) - La Société royale du Canada a décerné 28 prestigieuses Médailles du jubilé de diamant de la reine Elizabeth II. Cette distinction est une expression de gratitude pour les contributions significatives à l'érudition, aux arts et à la science, de même qu'aux services inestimables rendus à la communauté et à ses pairs.
La Société a mis sur pied un processus ouvert de candidature, où furent reçues un grand nombre de candidatures pour des chercheurs, artistes et scientifiques dont les réalisations entreprises au service de la SRC, ou au bénéfice de l'érudition, des arts, sont remarquables.
Un grand nombre des médailles ont été attribuées en collaboration avec les universités membres institutionnels de la SRC.
La Médaille du jubilé de diamant de la reine Elizabeth II a été créée en 2012 dans le cadre des célébrations qui ont marqué le 60e anniversaire de l'accession au trône de Sa Majesté la reine Elizabeth II en tant que Reine du Canada. Cette médaille commémorative a été présentée l'an dernier à 60 000 Canadiennes et Canadiens méritants pour célébrer les contributions et les réalisations importantes.
