New Leadership for Africa at Millicom


Stockholm, May 24, 2013 – Millicom, the international telecommunications and
media company (Stockholmsbörsen: MIC) today announced today that it has
appointed Arthur Bastings to the role of Executive Vice-President for Africa. He
takes up the position immediately and the company’s operations in seven
countries across the continent will report to him henceforth.
Mr Bastings was Managing Director of Discovery Communications Europe which he
turned into the fastest growing and largest pay TV channels business in the
region. Prior to this he had senior roles at Time Warner and Viacom. His early
career was in strategy consulting and brand development. Most recently, he was
Chief Executive at online games developer Bigpoint.

Commenting on the appointment of Mr Bastings, Hans-Holger Albrecht, the
President and CEO of Millicom said “Africa is a core growth business for the
Millicom group and Arthur's joining underscores our commitment to the
development of this region.  We see our growth both in traditional mobile and

The company also announced that its Executive Vice-President for Africa and
South America, Regis Romero, will be leaving the firm early in 2014 for personal
reasons.
