Northridge Dentist, Dr. Ariz, Uses VELscope for More Accurate Diagnosis of Dental Diseases

Northridge dentist, Dr. Ariz, utilizes VELscope to help provide accurate diagnosis of dental diseases.

Northridge, CA, May 28, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Early detection of dental diseases allows for more conservative treatment options and improved preservation of dental health. Six-month dental checkups give dentists an opportunity to examine patients for any signs of dental conditions, including oral cancer that could threaten dental health. Northridge cosmetic dentist, Dr. Farshid Ariz, is now utilizing VELscope to more accurately diagnose dental diseases and better preserve his patients' dental and overall health.

VELscope uses a blue light to reveal a more detailed look at soft oral tissues and is able to detect early changes that signify the presence of oral cancer or other dental diseases. It is completely non-invasive and takes just a few minutes to complete. With VELscope, there is no need for unpleasant-tasting dyes, mouth rinses or other extra tools or equipment. VELscope allows Dr. Ariz to quickly and effectively scan the entire mouth, and it has a much higher rate of accuracy than previously available testing options that use white light.

The special light of the VELscope can illuminate abnormal areas throughout the mouth, including the gums, tongue, cheeks and throat. It can allow Dr. Ariz to quickly diagnose and document the presence of any oral diseases, lesions or oral cancer and make the necessary treatment recommendations.

Dr. Ariz also offers a variety of treatments and procedures that can help restore his patients' dental health and the beauty of their one-of-a-kind smiles. Options include restorative dentistry, periodontal treatments, dental implants, dental surgery, porcelain crowns, dental bridges, dentures, Invisalign, sedation dentistry, and cosmetic dentistry procedures including inlays, onlays, tooth-colored fillings and dental veneers.
