GlobalMed's CapSure Cloud(TM) Medical Software Receives FDA Class 2 Clearance

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 30, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GlobalMed®—the worldwide leader in real-time healthcare delivery systems—announces it has received FDA Class 2 clearance for the distribution of CapSure Cloud, a DICOM PACS medical imaging software solution that enables efficient collaboration of studies from supported modalities—CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound and visible light photography—to be captured, stored, and accessed from anywhere in the world.

CapSure Cloud's image management system uses the DICOM format, healthcare's standard for managing medical images, enabling images to be easily viewed on most devices with internet access.

"We are pleased to be able to provide clinicians with the means to access and collaborate with critical patient data information at any time, from any location, across multiple devices," stated Joel E. Barthelemy, GlobalMed Founder and Managing Director. "This web-based platform is a powerful offering that will enable secure transferring of images and, ultimately, faster clinical decision making."

CapSure Cloud enables a patient's studies to be shared with a specialist at any other health facility within seconds to determine if, for example, by viewing CT images, an emergency patient should be transferred or remain at the original location. In the event transfer is not needed, costly "secondary over-triage" incidents can be avoided and the risk of a patient's lifetime exposure to radiation from additional scanning can be mitigated.

GlobalMed's cloud software uses an authenticated referral workflow process that allows clinicians to access a patient's medical record and images through secure passcode to which providers from other institutions can also be granted access. This enables efficient communication across a patient's provider network, allowing for faster healthcare delivery while capturing all data along the continuum. Studies can be sent directly to a receiving health facility for real-time consultation or sent to the cloud for later access and clinical collaboration.

Furthermore, utilizing CapSure Cloud's reporting tools, physicians can generate a clinical report from the patient's consultation involving these images, or simply complete the record and store it into Capsure Cloud for later reference.
