Canadian North Expands Executive Team

New Vice President of Marketing and Communications

YELLOWKNIFE, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES--(Marketwired - June 28, 2013) - Canadian North President, Steve Hankirk, is pleased to announce that Mr. Peter McCart has joined the executive management team as Vice President of Marketing and Communications, effective immediately.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, with a concentration in Finance and Marketing, and brings twenty-five years of aviation experience to Canadian North. His background includes 18 years with Air Canada's regional airlines AirBC and Jazz, in diverse roles ranging from operations, to marketing and network planning, to business process re-engineering. In 2005, Peter returned to Western Canada from Halifax to join Edmonton International Airport (EIA) as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. At EIA, he formed and led marketing and development teams to deliver award-winning campaigns and innovative community loyalty strategies. Peter also played a key role in Edmonton International Airport's new brand, EIA - We'll Move You.

"We're excited to have Peter join us in this key strategic position within the airline," says Canadian North's President, Steve Hankirk. "With his years of aviation involvement and breadth of experience, he's sure to make a significant contribution to our success."

The airline chose to add a senior position in the Marketing and Communications area due to its sizable growth since 2010. The airline now employs more than 880 staff across their system, escalating the need for an increase in communication; and contributes time and resources to many events and organizations through their community support program, requiring a continued focus on their contribution to the communities they serve. In addition, Canadian North's charter business has seen unprecedented growth, demanding additional support from a Marketing and Communications perspective. The airline was named "Official Carrier" of the Edmonton Eskimos earlier this month.
