East El Paso Veterinarian Named 2013 "Minority Small Business Champion of the Year"

EL PASO, Texas, July 7, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- East El Paso veterinarian Dr. Orlando Garza has been named "Minority Small Business Champion of the Year" for 2013 by the El Paso District Office of the Small Business Administration. The award was recently presented at a Small Business Week luncheon honoring local small business owners. Dr. Garza has been active in the El Paso community for more than three decades. Since founding East El Paso Animal Hospital in 1986, Dr. Garza has worked not only to grow his practice, but also improve opportunities for local small business owners.

2013 "Minority Small Business Champion of the Year" Dr. Orlando Garza is passionate about supporting the local community through both his veterinary care practice as well as his involvement in El Paso community projects.

Dr. Garza founded his clinic, East El Paso Animal Hospital, in 1986. The original practice was in a small, 1800 sq. ft. building with only a single employee. Today, Dr. Garza's veterinary practice is one of the most successful in El Paso. The veterinary hospital now occupies a brand new 5,300 sq. ft. facility.

"It has been a long journey growing my veterinary practice, and I could not have accomplished it without support from the El Paso community," said Dr. Garza. "I am honored to be named 'Minority Small Business Champion of the Year' and I am committed to doing everything possible to expand opportunities for minority businesses right here in our community."

The East El Paso veterinarian donates his time through both local and statewide community and professional organizations. Dr. Garza served as the 2012-2013 President for the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. He was named "Practitioner of the Year" in 2009 for the state of Texas.

"Even on my worst day practicing veterinary medicine, there is nothing else that I'd rather be doing," said Dr. Garza. "Not everyone can say that about their chosen profession. From puppy and kitten care to senior pet care, I am passionate about veterinary health. I am honored that so many community members entrust their dogs, cats and horses to my care."

Dr. Garza attributes his animal hospital's success in part to the practice's commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology with compassionate care.

"Pet owners choose our animal vet hospital because they know that their pets will receive the very best senior, puppy and kitten care here, along with access to the latest veterinary technologies," said Dr. Garza. "But even with these high-tech treatments, we never lose sight of just how important it is to treat every pet with dignity and respect. We understand that pets are an important member of the family, and we treat them as such."

The East El Paso animal vet hospital provides comprehensive veterinary care, including puppy and kitten care, pet vaccinations, and pet surgery. For more information, visit http://www.eastelpasoanimalhospital.com.
