University of La Verne Hosts ACUI's Annual I-LEAD Program

National six-day event helps college students develop leadership skills

LA VERNE, Calif., Aug. 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In an effort to provide students with opportunities to develop leadership skills for the present and future, the University of La Verne, in partnership with the Association of College Unions International (ACUI), is hosting the Institute for Leadership Education and Development (I-LEAD) July 28 – Aug 2, 2013.

This six-day event will provide 120 students from across the nation, including four University of La Verne students, with an intensive learning experience designed to emphasize the key concept areas of leadership, community development and change.

The institute prepares college students from diverse backgrounds to develop skills that will serve them as leaders in any situation, regardless of role, organization, or environment. It also offers an opportunity for students to focus on personal growth and other issues facing the world. Throughout the week, students will break out into large-group sessions, small-group discussions, individual reflection, networking opportunities, community service projects, and informal gatherings – all geared toward improving student leadership capacities.

I-LEAD is ACUI's premier student program and is held annual at colleges and universities throughout the country. This year, students will be occupying the Sarah and Michael Abraham Campus Center and Vista La Verne Residence Hall during their stay.
