Photo Release -- Window World of Southern Colorado Reunites Military Families Via Veterans Airlift Command

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Aug. 8, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Window World, Inc.®, America's largest replacement window and home remodeling company, volunteered their corporate aircraft on August 2 to fly a wounded veteran and his family from Colorado Springs to Richmond, Va. This trip was the 51st mission Window World has flown for Veterans Airlift Command, a nonprofit that facilitates free, private air transportation to wounded veterans and their families for medical and other compassionate purposes. The mission was sponsored by Window World of Southern Colorado.

The staff of Window World of Southern Colorado had the opportunity to meet the veteran who benefited from their sponsorship. Staff Sgt. Jason Searles was severely injured on his third deployment in Afghanistan, and lost his right leg below the knee. He has chosen to spend his convalescent leave visiting his parents and in-laws with his wife and 18 month-old son. For wounded warriors with prosthetics or other mobility issues, flying on a commercial aircraft can be a challenge. VAC provides free, private air transportation so that veterans can avoid the complications of flying commercially.

"With five military installations in the area, Colorado Springs has a large military population," said Chris Lehmkuhl, owner of Window World of Southern Colorado. "Servicemen and women are our neighbors and our customers. Window World is proud to sponsor this mission and serve those who serve us."
