STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN--(Marketwired - Aug 20, 2013) - The Swedish-American Life Science Summit (SALSS) today announced that this year's conference will focus on Global Aging and opportunities for Enhanced Health utilizing Regenerative Medicine, including Stem Cells.

With the mission to nurture exciting new sciences into successful ventures SALSS combines the worlds' of Business and Life Science for cutting edge discussions and exclusive networking opportunities. "Over the years SALSS has evolved to a highly recognized summit bringing together international decision makers discussing the forefronts of technology and business. Last year, the Institutional Investor concluded after the SALSS conference that Stockholm has now become the deal making hub for Life Science, which makes us very proud," says Barbro C. Ehnbom, Founder and Chairman of SALSS.

By exploring new technologies, such as regenerative medicine and the ever expanding use of stem cell research, this year's topics will not only cover ways to enhance our healthspan but also to decrease healthcare delivery costs globally.

"I am convinced that the key to accelerating medical research and improving global healthspan is to break down silos. Accelerating innovation means getting academicians, investors, business people and regulatory people in the same room, where they can share ideas and create novel strategies. SALSS can have a major impact driving these changes," says Dr. Brian K Kennedy, CEO, the Buck Institute for Aging Research.

Amongst an impressive presence of private equity groups, investors, life science companies and academia, this year's program features Dr. Kennedy, cited above, as well as Susan Solomon, Co-Founder of the New York Stem Cell Foundation, Dr. Jan Lundberg, President, Lilly Research Laboratories and Jamie Oliveira, Director, ANVISA, the Medical Products Agency of Brazil. The segment on Entrepreneurship will start off with a unique opportunity to hear Dr. Håkan Björklund, Chairman of Lundbeck, talk about the incredible success story of Nycomed, sold to Takeda Pharmaceutical for EUR 9.6 billion in 2011.
