HealthEast Announces Woodbury Expansion Plans

Cancer Care, Woodbury Clinic to Add Services, Locations

WOODBURY, MN--(Marketwired - Sep 10, 2013) - As a part of a continuing plan to transform based on ACA requirements and in keeping with a long-standing objective of compassionate care in the communities served; HealthEast Care System has announced plans to expand both HealthEast Cancer Care and the HealthEast Woodbury Clinic in Woodbury over the next two years.

"We are excited to announce plans to expand both HealthEast Cancer Care and the HealthEast Woodbury Clinic," says Tom Schmitt, Senior VP - ACO, Clinics & Outpatient Services. "Woodbury continues to be one of the fastest growing communities in the East Metro. We are committed to continuing to meet the health care needs of this community."

HealthEast Cancer Care is expanding and will offer services through two locations: one at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood and the other on the Woodwinds Health Campus in Woodbury. Today we offer a Medical Oncology clinic, chemotherapy and infusion services at Woodwinds. In January 2015, we will open the new radiation oncology service. By September 2015, we will offer medical oncology, chemo/infusion and radiation oncology services in one co-located space on the Woodlands level of the Birch Center building. This will feature expanded space for medical oncology and infusion services to meet the growing needs of the community.

"We want to improve patient access to the growing need for a comprehensive community cancer center in the Woodbury area," says Schmitt. HealthEast expects to serve patients from throughout Washington County including Woodbury, Cottage Grove and Stillwater.

Plans for the Woodwinds location expansion are underway and will be completed this fall. Construction will begin next spring.

The HealthEast Woodbury Clinic is also experiencing an increasing demand for primary care services. To meet growing community needs, HealthEast will relocate the existing HealthEast Woodbury Clinic into two locations. Approximately half of the physicians and staff will move into the Woodwinds Oak Center at 1825 Woodwinds Drive, with the remaining half relocating to a new site in east Woodbury near Super Target on Woodbury Drive.

The move and construction schedule for the Woodbury Clinic will occur during the next two years.

"This is an exciting time for HealthEast," says Tom Schmitt. "We have been warmly embraced by the Woodbury community and look forward to growing with them."

This expansion along with other significant investments in technology, for example, is a part of a plan by HealthEast to provide "Optimal health and well-being" to our community in an era of health care reform.
