LSI Demonstrates NVM Express Solution for Next-Generation SandForce(R) Flash Controllers at Intel Developer Forum 2013

NVM Express Optimized by LSI to Unlock Performance and Scalability Benefits of PCIe Flash Devices for Enterprise and Client Computing Systems


SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM -- LSI Corporation (Nasdaq:LSI) today announced it is demonstrating its NVM Express (NVMe) solution for next-generation LSI® SandForce® flash controllers at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) taking place this week at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.

NVMe is an optimized, high-performance, scalable host controller interface with a streamlined register interface and command set designed for enterprise and client systems using PCI Express (PCIe®)-based flash devices. Architected for performance, NVMe lowers latency, delivers higher IOPS, reduces power consumption and is scalable from client to enterprise platforms.

The LSI SandForce NVMe solution consists of standard drivers, target silicon and a full implementation of the protocol. The technology demonstration will use a test program to show a host device sending NVMe commands across a PCIe bus to LSI SandForce target silicon. The demo is a significant milestone toward achieving NVMe host driver and target controller optimization and validation.

LSI is a Promoter member of the NVMe Working Group, and a major contributor to the NVMe specification and the Open Fabrics Alliance (OFA) NVMe driver for Windows.

Technology demonstrations of the LSI NVMe solution will be on display in booth #731 in the NVMe Community. LSI will also demonstrate 12Gb/s SAS MegaRAID® performance at IDF in LSI booth #614. LSI 12Gb/s SAS technology will also be on display in the Supermicro booth (#500), Xyratex booth (#833) and SCSI Trade Association booth (#617).
